CACAO-TRACE™ - OUR SUSTAINABLE COCOA PROGRAM
Cacao-trace™ is also a symbol of quality around the world. For every kilo of chocolate purchased, a portion of the revenue is paid to the farmers in addition to what they usually earn. This allows farmers to make better chocolate because it gives them more time and ensures that the plants are taken care of. This also ensures a higher yield and a better quality yield.
Cacao-Trace™ chocolate is only made from the best quality cocoa beans that are fermented and dried according to a very strict process. This drying process is carried out in close collaboration with the Cacao-Trace™ team to ensure that only the best beans are used.
Green Key Label
Green Key is an eco-label awarded to more than 3,000 tourist attractions in over 60 countries worldwide. This eco-label is granted to companies with an environmental approach within their business. To apply for this certification, companies must follow a number of specific criteria. Reducing water and electricity consumption, as well as reducing waste and sorting it, are the first steps to obtaining this certification. Each year, Green Key adds new criteria to ensure that companies do their best to protect the environment.
We are proud to announce that Maison Pliester has been a recipient of this eco-label since January 2020 and that we are the only chocolate factory not only in Brussels but in the world to have obtained it.
