CACAO-TRACE™ - OUR SUSTAINABLE CACAO PROGRAM
Cacao-Trace™ is also a quality label around the world. For every kilogram of chocolate purchased, part of the revenue is paid to farmers in addition to what they usually earn. This allows farmers to make better chocolate because it gives them more time and ensures that the plants are cared for. At the same time, this ensures a higher yield and better quality output.
Cacao-Trace™ chocolate is made only from the highest-quality cocoa beans, which are fermented and dried according to a very strict process. This drying process is carried out in close collaboration with the Cacao-Trace™ team to ensure that only the best beans are used.
Green Key Label
Green Key is an ecolabel awarded to more than 3,000 tourist attractions in more than 60 countries around the world. This ecolabel is awarded to businesses that have an environmental approach within their company. In order to apply for this certificate, companies must meet a number of very specific criteria. Reducing water and electricity consumption, as well as cutting waste, not forgetting waste sorting, are the first steps to take in order to obtain this certificate. Each year, Green Key adds criteria that must be met to ensure that companies are doing their best to respect the environment.
We are proud to announce that Maison Pliester has been among the recipients of this ecolabel since January 2020 and that we are the only chocolate factory, not only in Brussels but in the world, to have obtained it.
