An artisan chocolatier in Brussels since 1986, Maison Pliester holds the "Artisan reconnu" (Recognized Artisan) label, issued by the FPS Economy. Obtained during the Covid period, this label expires in 2026: time for renewal for the next five years!
The "Artisan reconnu" label, obtained... thanks to Covid
Some procedures are always postponed due to lack of time. At Maison Pliester, an artisan chocolate factory located in Schaerbeek, Brussels, it was the lockdown that changed the game.
While the workshop's usual rhythm was on hold, we finally took the time to put together our application to obtain the "Artisan reconnu" label, an official recognition issued by the Belgian FPS Economy.
Valid for five years, this label logically expires in 2026. It's time to renew it!
An imperfect, but very real label
Let's be honest: no "Belgian" label is perfect, and this one is no exception. But in a country where finding an administrative consensus can sometimes be a national sport, having a clear, official, and verifiable "Artisan reconnu" label is already much better than nothing.
It constitutes a tangible recognition of genuine manual expertise, and not just a sticker placed on a shop window.
A small detail that perfectly sums up the Belgian spirit: this label doesn't have one logo, but four! Three national languages oblige, it exists in French, Dutch, and German. And as that was clearly not enough for everyone to understand it, an English version was also added for good measure.
There you have it, Belgium in one image!

What the "Artisan reconnu" label guarantees our customers
For Maison Pliester's customers in Brussels, but also for groups, tour operators, and B2B partners who have trusted us for many years, this label provides a concrete guarantee: our chocolates are designed, processed, and checked on-site by a team that masters every step of the craft.
We don't do "bean-to-bar". Our artisan expertise relies on the use of carefully selected Belgian chocolate couvertures, in the pure tradition of Brussels chocolate making.
This expertise also extends to the creation of custom molds and in-house designed packaging. A signature unique to Maison Pliester, which goes far beyond simple chocolate manufacturing.
Why renew this label in 2026?
The renewal of the "Artisan reconnu" label in 2026 is part of our ongoing commitment to quality, alongside other recognitions such as Gault&Millau, Green Key, and ShiftingPact.
This time, it is no longer the time freed up by a lockdown that motivates our approach, but a clear desire: to ensure the continuity of the official recognition of our workshop, despite any potential challenges from the Belgian administration.
Artisan chocolatier, Belgian chocolate, and recognized expertise in Brussels: this is what this label confirms, in black and white, for the next five years.
